Mumbai, May 27: An unidentified person on Monday threatened to blow up Hotel Taj and Mumbai airport claiming bombs are planted at these places, which turned out to be a hoax after police conducted a search but no suspicious object was found, an official said.
The mobile number on which the message was posted in the Mumbai Traffic Police's Whatsapp helpline number has been traced to Agra, according to the official.
Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and conducting the investigation, he said.
"Traffic Police's WhatsApp number received a message threatening to blow up Hotel Taj and the city airport with bombs planted at these places. A traffic police constable alerted the police department, following which a search was conducted, but no suspicious (object) was found," he added.

Shahjahanpur (UP) (PTI): Three people were killed and four injured in a collision between a truck and an autorickshaw here on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Saurabh Dixit said the truck was coming from the Jalalabad side and the auto-rickshaw from the opposite direction.
Due to the impact of the collision, Ramkshatriya (28), an unidentified 40-year-old woman and Kallu (45) died on the spot, the SP said.
On receiving information about the accident, police rescued four injured people, who were admitted to the government medical college for treatment. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, Dixit said.
The truck driver fled the scene after the accident and the vehicle has been seized. Efforts are underway to trace the driver, police said.
