New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya held an hour-long discussion with BJP national president JP Nadda in Delhi. The meeting aimed at preparing a strategy for the upcoming by polls to 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh.

Speculations are rife about significant changes in the BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit and the Yogi Adityanath cabinet, expected after the bypolls. However, there was no discussion about a change in the chief ministerial position during the meeting.

The INDIA bloc's impressive performance in the recent bypolls to 13 assembly seats across 7 states, where the Opposition won 10 constituencies, has added pressure on the BJP.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's meeting with BJP chief JP Nadda comes on the heels of the Opposition-led INDIA bloc's strong showing in the Lok Sabha elections and recent bypolls. This performance has forced the BJP to reassess its strategy in Uttar Pradesh.

Sources suggest that a significant reshuffle in the BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit and the Yogi Adityanath cabinet is likely after the bypolls. However, discussions about replacing the Chief Minister were not part of the agenda.

In parallel, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with his ministers to emphasize the selection of honest, winnable candidates and better coordination with local party workers. He stressed the importance of strengthening booth committees and gathering local feedback to improve the BJP's organizational strength.

The INDIA bloc, comprising the Samajwadi Party and Congress, secured 43 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while the BJP-led NDA won 36, a significant drop from their 64-seat victory in 2019.

Amidst the political maneuvering, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the BJP for internal conflicts, claiming that the party's infighting has weakened its governance in Uttar Pradesh.

Bhatkal: The Karnataka unit of the All India Ideal Teachers Association (AIITA) has welcomed the Karnataka government’s decision to strictly ban school children from dancing to obscene songs during educational and cultural programmes in government, aided, and private schools across the state.

AIITA Karnataka State President M. R. Manvi congratulated the government for taking what he termed an important step to preserve the sanctity of education.

“Such decisions to safeguard the dignity of school children and uphold the values of education are the need of the hour. This rule should not be limited to government schools alone but must be strictly implemented in all private educational institutions as well,” he said.

He further urged the government to address other concerns within school programmes.

“The government should not only prohibit obscene dances in the name of school anniversaries, but also ensure that plays and dialogues that incite religious hatred are avoided. Schools should be centres of harmony, not platforms for spreading hatred,” he added.

According to a recent circular issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy, obscene dances are adversely affecting the mental health and moral values of students.

In this regard, schools have been advised to use songs that promote nationalism, positive thinking, the greatness of Kannada culture, and value-based traditions instead of inappropriate content during programmes.
The circular also emphasises that students should be dressed in decent attire.

AIITA also backed the department’s warning that disciplinary action would be taken against head teachers if such guidelines are violated. The association has further demanded that district Deputy Directors of Public Instruction strictly monitor the implementation of these rules.
