Amethi (UP) (PTI): Police have launched an investigation after a woman alleged that her partner deceived her on the pretext of marriage and is now planning to marry another woman, officials said on Wednesday.
The complainant, a native of Bahraich district who had been working in Delhi, claimed that she met Mohit Vishwakarma, a resident of Mochwa village, at a shopping mall where both were employed and developed a relationship. Both were in their 20s.
She alleged that the accused established physical relations with her on the promise of marriage and that she became pregnant twice, but was forced to terminate both pregnancies after being given medication by him.

The woman also claimed that the accused entered his name as her husband on her Aadhaar card.
According to the complaint, the man later left her in Delhi and returned to his village, where his marriage has been fixed with another woman on May 2.
Upon learning this, the woman travelled to Amethi and stayed at his house for three days, but was driven out by his family members.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Gyanendra Kumar Singh, said a complaint was received on April 21, and preliminary verification confirmed the identity of the accused.
"The allegations are being examined, and necessary legal action will be taken based on the findings," he said.

Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.
The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.
The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.
They demanded compensation, jobs for dependents and action against those responsible for the incident.
Police and administration officials are trying to pacify the protesters, an official said.
