Uttarakhand: Man fatally stabbed in clash between two groups in Khatima; situation tense
Khatima (PTI): Protests broke out after a man was fatally stabbed during a clash between two groups at a bus station complex in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday night when an argument between two groups escalated into a violent clash in which 23-year-old Tushar Sharma was stabbed to death, police said.
Two others, who were seriously injured in the clash, were referred to a higher medical centre, they added.

After the clash, a group led by the Bajrang Dal set fire to a shop belonging to the accused and staged protests on the streets, forcing the closure of markets in Khatima, police said.
Seeing the situation getting out of control, police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the protesters sitting on the road, further escalating tension in the town.
Himanshu, the district convener of Bajrang Dal, threatened to intensify the protest if the accused are not arrested soon.
Additional police force has been deployed in the sensitive areas of the town to maintain law and order, police said.
Khatima Circle Officer Vimal Kumar said police have identified the accused persons who will be arrested soon.
The law and order situation in the town is under control, and strict action will be taken against those attempting to spread anarchy, the officer said.

Bihar man sought money from foreign agency for threatening PM’s security, arrested: Police

Buxar (PTI): A man was arrested in Bihar’s Buxar district for sending a message to a foreign intelligence agency’s website, claiming that he could compromise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security in exchange for money, police said.
The accused, identified as Amal Kumar Tiwari of Simri locality, was apprehended on Thursday night. Police seized a laptop, mobile phones and other digital evidence from his premises.
“Police received information that Tiwari posted a message on the website of the USA-based intelligence agency. He demanded money in exchange for compromising the security of the Indian PM," the Buxar police said in a statement on Friday.
It was found that in his seized mobile phone, multiple virtual private networks (VPNs) and some apps were installed, which were used to access the dark web, it said.
A VPN is a tool that creates an encrypted, private tunnel for one's internet traffic over public networks, providing enhanced privacy, while the dark web is a part of the internet that is not indexed by search engines and requires special software to access.
The police statement said that fake identity documents were also recovered from his premises, which were being used for cybercrimes.
“During interrogation, the accused confessed his involvement in the incident. It was also revealed that earlier he had been involved in a case of threatening to hack Kolkata airport's website,” the statement said.
