Tosham: In a surprising move, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has campaigned for Congress party candidate Anirudh Chaudhary, who is contesting from the Tosham constituency in Haryana.

Sehwag urged voters to support Chaudhary, emphasising his potential to become a voice for the people and contribute to the progress of Tosham.
"I consider him as my elder brother, and his father, Ranbir Singh Mahendra, who also served as BCCI president, had supported me a lot. This is one of the most important days for him, and I feel I would be able to help him," Sehwag said in a video message posted by PTI. The veteran cricketer further encouraged the people of Tosham to help Anirudh Chaudhary secure victory.

Chaudhary expressed confidence that the Congress party will emerge victorious in the Haryana elections, highlighting the current government's (BJP) failure to address pressing issues faced by farmers. “There's a huge water crisis here, but the government has also failed to solve this issue. Development has not taken place here, and I want to solve all these issues,” the sports administrator-turned-politician asserted.

Sehwag's endorsement has brought a new dynamic into the closely contested race in Tosham, where familial ties and political rivalries run deep. Anirudh Chaudhary, 48, is the grandson of four-time Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal. He is up against his cousin, Shruti Choudhry, who is the BJP candidate and the daughter of Bansi Lal’s younger son, Surender Singh.

Voting for the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly is scheduled for October 5, with the counting of votes on October 8.

New Delhi (PTI): A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death at Ramleela ground in northwest Delhi for allegedly making social media comments that police described as "controversial", an official said on Wednesday.

According to the police, the assailants, also minors, attacked him with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds.

"A PCR call was received in the Shalimar Bagh Police Station regarding an injured boy lying in Ramleela ground. The police team reached the spot and found him with multiple stab wounds," a police officer said.

He was working as a labourer in a banquet hall for the last two days, the officer said. An FIR was registered and the police apprehended two juveniles in the case.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased was stabbed due to an ongoing enmity, the officer said.

During questioning, the accused told the police that the victim had made "controversial comments" against them on social media. Following which, they intercepted him at Ramleela ground and stabbed him. He died on the spot, officer said.

"We have recovered a dagger and the victim's mobile phone. Further investigation in the case is underway," he added.
