Fact-checker and co-founder of Alt News Mohammed Zubair on Thursday claimed that he was offered to join BJP while he was in jail and that he was told all cases against him would be dropped if he did so.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Zubair recalled his conversation with one of the inmates in the jail who was also a ex Shiv Sena member and current BJP supporter. He added that the inmate asked him to think about himself and his family and join BJP which would withdraw all cases against him.
“All these bogus cases against you will be dropped in no time. You'll be welcomed by Party leadership. All party supporters who abuse you will start praising you. You will get a lot of money and respect,” the inmate reportedly told Zubair.
“Recalled our conversation in Jail after watching a recent podcast by Smita Prakash.” Zubair added in his tweet hinting at the recent podcast of ANI with former JNU student leader Shehla Rashid who, once an stern protester of PM Modi and his policies spoke in favor of PM Modi and Amit Shah. Netizens came up with their own theories out about the sudden “change of heart” asserting that Rashid had joined hands with BJP.
When I was in jail, A jail inmate (Ex Shiv Sena member and current BJP supporter) said, ‘Zubair bhai, Why don't you join the BJP... I am serious, Don't laugh.. All these bogus cases against you will be dropped in no time. You'll be welcomed by Party leadership. All party…

Chennai: Actor-politician Vijay has reportedly not been invited to take oath as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after failing to demonstrate support from the required number of MLAs, sources in Raj Bhavan said.
According to media reports that quoted sources in the office of R.N. Ravi Arlekar, Vijay could not prove the backing of 118 legislators, the majority mark in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Despite last-minute efforts to secure support from the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazagam (AMMK), and an IUML legislator, Vijay reportedly managed support from only 116 MLAs, falling short by two members.
Sources said Vijay failed to submit letters of support from the VCK and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
Later, the IUML issued a statement clarifying that it was not part of the TVK-led alliance.
Meanwhile, AMMK leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran is also said to have informed the Governor that his party would support the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) instead.
Earlier in the evening, Vijay had met Governor Arlekar and staked claim to form the government, stating that he enjoyed the support of 118 MLAs.
