Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), criticized Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar for questioning the announcement by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) regarding the establishment of a special Information Technology (IT) Park in Hyderabad for the Muslim community.

Earlier, Shivakumar expressed skepticism about creating a park exclusively for one community, stating that such a move would weaken KCR.

“"How can they make an IT park just for a community? I have never heard any such thing. This shows that KCR has weakened himself. You can promote the minority community, women, and children, but cannot make an IT park just for one community," Shivakumar had said

In response, Owaisi took to Twitter, expressing disapproval of Shivakumar's comments. He asserted that just because Shivakumar may not have heard about certain initiatives doesn't mean they are impossible. Owaisi emphasized that Muslims, along with other backward classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes, face disadvantages that dominant castes do not. He highlighted that Muslims in Telangana are not just voters but full-fledged citizens deserving a fair share in the state’s progress.

"Dear DK Shivakumar, you have not heard of many things, doesn't mean that they are impossible. If youth, children, and women don't have any caste, why is your leader promising caste census? The truth is that Muslims, BCs, SCs & STs face disadvantages that dominant castes don't," Owaisi tweeted.

Owaisi clarified, "It doesn’t mean an EXCLUSIVE IT Park where ONLY Muslims work, but it definitely means that special support is provided to them so that they can overcome the discrimination that they face."

Regarding concerns raised by Shivakumar about the creation of an exclusive IT park for Muslims, Owaisi clarified that it doesn't mean a park exclusively for Muslims to work but signifies providing special support to overcome discrimination. He argued that supporting Muslim entrepreneurs is crucial to transform them from job seekers to job creators.

Owaisi accused Shivakumar of revealing his "real anti-Muslim face" and questioned the Karnataka leader about the quota for backward Muslims in the state, asking whether it would be reinstated or abandoned.

“Good to know that you have shown your real anti-Muslim face. Please tell us if the quota for backward Muslims in Karnataka will be brought back or if they should give it up,” he added.

In an attempt to garner support from minority voters ahead of the November 30 Telangana Assembly elections, Chief Minister KCR announced the plan for a special IT park for Muslim youths. The BJP criticized the move, labeling it as "appeasement politics."

The AIMIM chief defended the initiative, stressing the need for special support to address the discrimination faced by minority communities. He argued that the IT park is not meant to be exclusive but aims to provide targeted assistance to Muslim entrepreneurs.
