A case was registered against four accused, arrested for the alleged rape and murder of a woman veterinarian near here last month and killed in an encounter, for 'attacking' the police personnel.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday questioned the Uttar Pradesh government as to why the Unnao gang rape victim was not given security keeping in mind a similar incident that took place earlier in the same district.

One person was killed and two others injured on Saturday, after security personnel opened fire on a group of men who tried to snatch their arms in Gumla's Sisai constituency, where polling is underway, police said.

 There is deep sorrow and acute anger in the native village of the Unnao rape victim in Bihar police station area here since the time the locals received news of her death in a Delhi hospital.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath on Saturday termed the death of Unnao gangrape victim "extremely sad" and conveyed his condolences to the aggrieved family.

The 23-year-old Unnao rape victim who was airlifted to Delhi and admitted to Safdarjung Hospital with 90 per cent burns after being set on fire has died, hospital sources said.

The Telangana High Court on Friday directed the state government to preserve the bodies of four acccused in the rape and murder of a young veterinarian till 8:00 PM on December 9.
