The Supreme Court Wednesday said its 2006 verdict putting benefits of quotas in job promotions for SC/ST employees need not be referred to a seven-judge bench.

Aadhaar Linking With Bank Account and Mobile Number Not Mandatory : Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said bank accounts and mobile numbers don't need to be linked with the 12-digit biometric Aadhaar. The Supreme Court further upheld Section 139AA mandating linkage with PAN which means Aadhaar will remain mandatory for Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Income Tax Returns linking. The Supreme Court further added saying that the government needs to ensure that illegal migrants do not get Aadhaar card.
