The statue of Tripura's iconic communist leader Baidyanath Majumder was knocked down by miscreants in northern Tripura late on Wednesday night, the police said.

 The police have busted a gang of counterfeit cement manufacturers and recovered some tools, a truck and bags of fake cement bearing names of big brands in Ghaziabad, the police said on Thursday.

After Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan allegedly dubbed him a "traitor", senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Thursday approached the police to get himself arrested. The police, however, refused to act in the absence of any complaint/case against him.
