Two dead, flight overshoots runway as rains still batter Mumbai, surroundings

At least two persons were killed in rain-related accidents in Maharashtra's Palghar while road, rail traffic and flights were severely hit as the country's commercial capital and many parts of the state were battered by incessant rains for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday, officials said. Mumbai has now been placed at high alert.


SC refuses to expand scope of challenge to IPC's Section 377

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled out expanding the scope of the challenge to validity of the Indian Penal Code's Section 377, which criminalizes homosexuality, to include the right to marriage, co-habitation and adoption of people belonging to LGBT groups.
