A 32-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her house in the eastern suburbs here, police said on Tuesday.

An Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer, arrested for allegedly possessing wealth disproportionate to her income, had amassed assets 400 times more than her known sources of income, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday.
