West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday lashed out at Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari over his controversial remark on Muslim MLAs, accusing the BJP of importing "fake Hinduism" to the state.

Amid the Sambhal mosque controversy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath said on Wednesday that forcibly seizing someone's faith and trampling over their beliefs is "unacceptable", especially "when we know the truth about Sambhal" which predates Islam, with the Vishnu temple there being destroyed in 1526.

Maharashtra's debt burden is projected to rise to ₹9.32 lakh crore by the end of the 2025-26 fiscal year, translating to a per capita debt of ₹72,761 for the state's estimated 12.8 crore population. According to a report by NGO Samarthan, Maharashtra’s total debt increased by ₹1.02 lakh crore in the past year and is expected to grow by another ₹92,967 crore in the coming fiscal year.
