178 fresh COVID-19 cases in Karnataka on Friday; State's toll climbs up to 2711
Bengaluru: Karnataka on Friday recorded 178 fresh cases of Corona Virus, a health bulletin issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department informed on Friday afternoon.
The cases were registered from Thursday evening from 5pm to Friday at 12 pm. Raichur and Yadgiri districts reported the highest number of cases with 62 and 60 new cases respectively. Udupi and Kalaburagi Districts also accounted for 15 new cases each while Bengaluru reported 9 new cases, Chikkaballapur and Davangere reported 4 cases each, Mandya 2, Chitradurga, Shivamogga and Bengaluru Rural reported one case each, according to the bulletin.
The majority of the person who tested positive for the virus on Friday had arrived in the state from Maharashtra.
The total toll of cases in the state has climbed up to 2711. And with the recovery of 35 people of Friday who were discharged from the hospitals, the recoveries in the state has gone up to 896 while 47 patients have succumbed to the virus.

Low visibility prevents PM’s helicopter from landing in Taherpur, Modi returns to Kolkata airport
Kolkata (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s helicopter failed to land at the Taherpur helipad in West Bengal owing to low visibility on account of dense fog in the area on Saturday, an official said.
The PM’s chopper made a U-turn after hovering over the helipad ground for a while and returned to the Kolkata airport, he said.
Till reports last received, the Prime Minister was waiting at the airport for further updates on the weather situation.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Modi would reach the rally venue district by road or whether he would wait for the weather to clear up and make another attempt to reach Taherpur by the aerial route, the official said.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister reached Kolkata at around 10.40 am and took a chopper onward to Taherpur in Nadia district, where he is scheduled to hold an administrative programme to launch highway projects in West Bengal, followed by a political rally of the BJP, titled Parivartan Sankalpa Sabha, which he is supposed to address.
