Mangaluru: 18th Graduation Day ceremony of PA College of Engineering was held on 26 February 2022 at PACE Auditorium. 

Brijesh Balakrishnan, President, ITC Infotech was the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted aspects of being courageous to face the world of uncertainties, to prepare wisely for the world outside. 

“The reality of the world is volatile, challenging, and ambiguous. There is a lot of crises going around,” he said while asking the graduates to always be prepared for anything that comes their way. 

PA Zubair Ibrahim, Trustee PA Educational Trust was the Guest of Honor. In his address, he stressed on the responsibility to upgrade the standard of living, responsibility to contribute to the society, responsibility to uphold the faith, and most of all responsibility towards oneself to give the best any person can.  

Abdulla Ibrahim, Chairman and Managing Trustee, PA Educational Trust presided over the function. In his address, he advised Graduands to execute the work on preference basis and to bring perfection in every action. He urged the graduands to be present in the moment and take opportunities that come their way. 

Dr. Ramis M K, Principal, addressed the gathering and administered the oath. Dr Sayyad Ameen Ahammed, Dean Student Affairs, PAET and Director (MBA) announced the names of the Best outgoing students and Academic Topper award winners. 

The graduates (B. E, MTech and Ph.D.) across all streams of Engineering and Master of Business Administration were presented with the certificate of course completion during the ceremony. The top academic performers of various Engineering streams and Management were also facilitated during the ceremony Ahmed Kutty, Finance Director, Sharfuddin P.K., AGM, PA Educational Trust,), Heads of various departments, Dr. Krishna Prasad, Dr. Prashanth Pai, Dr. Palakshappa Prof. Mohammed Hussain, Prof. John Valder, Prof. Ismail Shaffi, Prof Abdul Majeed, Dr. Mitra K, Dr. Sareen Sheikh and Physical Director Mr. Iqbal were present for the occasion. Ismail Shaffi, Coordinator, Co- Scholastic Activities and Coordinator of the day, welcomed the gathering. Dr Sharmila Kumari, Vice Principal proposed the vote of thanks. Nishant, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Michelle Dsouza, Department of English compered the program.

Bhatkal: The Karnataka unit of the All India Ideal Teachers Association (AIITA) has welcomed the Karnataka government’s decision to strictly ban school children from dancing to obscene songs during educational and cultural programmes in government, aided, and private schools across the state.

AIITA Karnataka State President M. R. Manvi congratulated the government for taking what he termed an important step to preserve the sanctity of education.

“Such decisions to safeguard the dignity of school children and uphold the values of education are the need of the hour. This rule should not be limited to government schools alone but must be strictly implemented in all private educational institutions as well,” he said.

He further urged the government to address other concerns within school programmes.

“The government should not only prohibit obscene dances in the name of school anniversaries, but also ensure that plays and dialogues that incite religious hatred are avoided. Schools should be centres of harmony, not platforms for spreading hatred,” he added.

According to a recent circular issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy, obscene dances are adversely affecting the mental health and moral values of students.

In this regard, schools have been advised to use songs that promote nationalism, positive thinking, the greatness of Kannada culture, and value-based traditions instead of inappropriate content during programmes.
The circular also emphasises that students should be dressed in decent attire.

AIITA also backed the department’s warning that disciplinary action would be taken against head teachers if such guidelines are violated. The association has further demanded that district Deputy Directors of Public Instruction strictly monitor the implementation of these rules.
