Mangaluru: In the backdrop of COVID-19, according to the voluntary order issued by the Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), 9 educational institutions run by the Yenepoya group were instructed to temporarily close from March 15th, Monday.
Amid the closure, the University has instructed students to attend classes online so that they do not miss out on their learning progress.
Yenepoya Medical College, Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy College and Research Centre, Health Care Professionals, Ayurveda College, and Naturopathy Colleges have been subjected to the temporary closure. However, the interns, PG Students, and Nursing staff will be resuming their duties in this period.
Medical College Hospital will be operational and the Teaching and non-teaching staff will be attending to their duties as usual. As per the Circular, the Exam regulators will issue a separate circular for the exams that have been already scheduled, Dr. Gangadhar Somayyaji K.S, Registrar of the Yenepoya University informed.

If more than 5 Covid positive cases are confirmed on an institution, it will be treated as a containment zone. Yenepoya Institution has already confirmed more than 30 Corona positive cases. The establishment has already issued a voluntary closure order to 9 of their institutions.

Mumbai (PTI): Police have arrested a man and seized over 500 grams of heroin worth Rs 2.54 crore in the illicit market from him in Mumbai, officials said on Friday.
The police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) made the drug seizure in Santacruz in the western suburbs. The operation was conducted by the Kandivali unit of the ANC on Thursday as part of a special crackdown against drug trafficking in the area, they said.
Acting on specific inputs, an ANC team conducted a raid in Santacruz (East) and intercepted a man. During a search, the team recovered 508 grams of high-grade heroin from his possession, an official said.
The seized contraband, a highly addictive, opioid drug derived from morphine, is estimated to be worth Rs 2.54 crore in the international market, he informed.
Following the seizure, a case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and he was formally placed under arrest in the early hours of Friday.
The police are currently investigating the source of the drug and trying to identify the intended recipients of the consignment, he said.
