Moodabidri: “Although I am a part of Bharatiya Janata Party, as a big fan of the former Minister B. Janardhan Poojary, I did not mean any kind of disrespect to the Billava community. Despite this, I offer my apologies to friends from the Billava Community in case I have hurt their sentiments”, said BJP Leader, K.P Jagadish Adhikari.
Speaking at a press conference organized at Moodabidri Press Club on Saturday, he said, “In the Religious Governing Council, any particular religion is not seen as inferior to other. I have not indulged in discriminating based on religion, caste, sect, language, or culture. I have made a statement in the Religious Council on how the legacy of giving respect must continue. Despite being in the BJP, as a great fan of Janardhan Poojary, on many different occasions, I have continued to render my cooperation and support to friends in the Billava Community”, he expressed.
“I am deeply hurt by this issue. Billava Community is a part of my heart, I have grown among them”, he said.
Previously, Jagadish Adhikari’s statements twisting the history associated with Tulu Nadu’s heroic personality Koti-Chennaya and sayings insulting the former Minister B. Janardhan Poojary had gone viral on social media and hurt the collective sentiments of the Billava Community.
Enraged by this, the Billava Community expressed their outrage, while the Moodabidri Billava Sangha registered an FIR against Jagadish Adhikari at the Moodbidri Police Station.
