Belthangady: Puttur Assistant Commissioner Stella Varghese, taking into consideration a plea by Belthangady Police, has issued an exile order against Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, the Sowjanya movement activist from Ujire who has around 32 cases filed against him in multiple police stations.
Belthangady Police had submitted a report giving details of the cases to the AC and the senior officer, after perusing the document, reportedly issued an order exiling Thimarody to Manvi taluk in Raichur district for a period of one year. The exile order was applicable from September 18, the officer added.
A copy of the exile order will be sent to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Bantwal Sub-division), following which, legal action will be taken, sources have said.

Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.
Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.
Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
