Mangaluru, July 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had termed the Congress as ‘bail gaddi’ as several of its leaders were out on bail. In Karnataka, all BJP leaders including its state president were on bail. Let the Prime Minister tell what he will do with his leaders, Congress former minister B Ramanath Rai challenged.
Speaking to reporters at the party office here on Tuesday, he made a scathing attack on the BJP governance at the centre. The Narendra Modi led NDA government has been making gimmicks when the elections were approached. But it has failed on all fronts in the country, he alleged.
In the name of Jan Dhan account, the public money was credited into the banks. But the people were not benefitted. The prices of petroleum products were being increased everyday due to which, the once closed Reliance company was opened now. The domestic gas was being sold at Rs 400 during UPA tenure and now, the price was increased to Rs 800. For checking black money, the central government had introduced demonetisation. The BJP leaders had promised of crediting Rs 15 lakh to each account of the countrymen after bringing back the black money stashed outside India. During UPA tenure, the black money percentage was 44 and now, it has increased to 88 per cent. Now, the people would get Rs 30 lakh in their accounts, he ridiculed.
Then UPA government had waived off the farm loans of farmers across the country. But the NDA government was silent on the issue. But it had waived off more than Rs 2.5 lakh crore of industrialists. Bharatiya Janata Party had become a Bharatiya Joot Party, he alleged.
During Nirbhaya rape and murder, a situation was created in the country as if it was done by the Congress. But in Uttar Pradesh where the BJP is ruling, such incidents have been repeating now. Earlier, Narendra Modi had spoken about border issue. But after becoming the PM, he had met Pakistan Prime Minister. The central government was more obsessed with publicity and doing nothing good to the people, the former minister said.
The Congress had never said that it would not require the votes of Hindus or Muslims. It was a part of false propaganda, he added.
District Congress president and MLC Harish Kumar, former minister Abhayachandra Jain, former MLA JR Lobo, leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Muhammad Hanif and others were present.

Mumbai, Nov 5: A special NIA court here on Tuesday issued a bailable warrant against BJP leader Pragya Singh Thakur, an accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, for failing to attend the proceedings.
Final arguments were going on and the presence of the accused is necessary, special judge A K Lahoti noted as he issued a bailable warrant of Rs 10,000 against Thakur.
The warrant is `returnable' by November 13 which means Thakur will have to appear before the court by then and get it cancelled.
The BJP leader's lawyer cited her health problems while requesting the special court for National Investigation Agency cases to grant her reasonable time to remain present.
But the court noted that Thakur, the accused number 1, had not attended the proceedings since June 4.
Her past applications for exemption on the grounds of illness and hospitalization were considered from time to time, the special judge said.
"Today, the application was filed, along with a xerox copy of the medical certificate, showing she is undergoing ayurvedic treatment, but the original certificate is not annexed," the court said while rejecting her plea.
Six people were killed and over 100 injured when an explosive device strapped to a motorcycle went off near a mosque in Malegaon, a town in north Maharashtra about 200 km from Mumbai, on September 29, 2008.
Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit and five others are on trial for alleged involvement in the blast conspiracy under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The case was initially probed by the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS), Maharashtra, before being transferred to the National Investigation Agency in 2011.
