Mangaluru: A case has been registered at the Puttur Police Station following an alleged assault on police officers. The incident occurred in Bannur village, Puttur taluk, resulting in the arrest of Tejas, a local resident.
According to the police, on June 26, Tejas misbehaved with police officers who responded to a disturbance call related to a quarrel between him and his mother. It is alleged that Tejas verbally abused the police and, in a fit of rage, threatened them, stating he would not let them go without causing harm.
Tejas reportedly emerged from his house with a steel rod and struck PC Vinayak on the head. When police officers attempted to disarm him, Tejas allegedly continued to attack PC Vinayak and another police officer with his hands.
Complaints have been filed against Tejas for insulting the police, obstructing public and government duties, threatening life, and attempting to kill while the officers were on duty in uniform.
The case has been registered under sections 352,351,126(2),132,121(1),109,115(2),118 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.
“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.
The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.
Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
