Udupi, July 27: Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Sode Mutt, the dwandwa mutt of Shiroor Mutt, said that Aradhana of Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt who died on July 19, at Moola Mutt near Hiriyadka, would be conducted only after the police vacated the mutt.

Speaking to reporters at the Sode Mutt on Friday, the swamiji said that they have planned to hold Aradhana of Shiroor Swamiji on the 13th day of his death. But as the police investigation was under process, they have decided to make preparations for the Aradhana only after the police handover the mutt. The SP had said that they would hand over the mutt on Friday evening after completing all investigation. If it was handed over, they would make all preparations as per the tradition. But they could do anything without the police permission. Aradhana of the 13th day and community dinner would be conducted and after one year, Vrundavan would be installed, he said.

Cooperation for investigation

The police have taken over the Moola Mutt for just three days for investigation. But one week was over. It should not hamper the investigation. At the same time, if the mutt was not handed over, they could not prepare food, do pooja and homa as per the tradition. Though the mutt was under the police custody, pooja and other rituals were being conducted without any problem. But the devotees were not being allowed. The special Ranga Pooja, being held in Moola Mutt on every Saturday, would also be conducted tomorrow, he said.

Five-member committee

Till the successor is appointed to the Shiroor mutt, two incharge persons were appointed to look after Shiroor Mutt and Shiroor Moola Mutt at Hiriyadka and they were cooperating with the police investigation and daily activities. Those who have clear knowledge about the mutt were designated as the incharge. In future, a five-member committee would be constituted to look after the properties, finance and other transactions of the mutt, for which preparations were going on and it would come into existence shortly. The committee would have a representative of the Shiroor mutt, Sode seer said.

Searching for successor

Searching for a right candidate to succeed the Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji was going on. They were searching for eligible candidate who completes 18 years of age and suitable for Sanyasa. If eligible boy is found, they were ready to adopt him as disciple. But he does not know whether the Shiroor seer had selected any candidate to succeed himself or not. Such a person has not yet contacted him, he said.

Shiroor mutt is not neglected

Shiroor mutt was not neglected after the death of Shiroor seer. Because of the Dwandwa Mutt tradition instituted by Sri Madhvacharya, Sode Mutt has been taking care of Shiroor mutt with immediate effect. In future, after accepting the disciple, the Sode Mutt would hand over the Shiroor Mutt to the new swamiji. Now, he was getting the cooperation and help from all other mutts, he said.

Missing of ledger of the Shiroor Mutt was not come to his notice. He came to know about the missing of DVR only after the police informed him. The jewelry to be used the swamiji were not returned to the mutt, because they were under the police custody. Considering the financial condition of the mutt, he would take a decision whether to continue various programmes of Shiroor seer or not. Recording of all properties and assets of the Shiroor mutt would be held as per the law and once, the disciple was accepted, the successor would be responsible for everything, he said.

Sode seer expresses unhappiness about electronic media report

Vishwavallabha Swamiji of Sode Mutt expressed his strong resentment against the breaking news, analysis and reports being telecast in electronic media after the death of Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt.

He said that some TV channels have targeted the remaining swamijis of the Ashta Mutts for the death of Shiroor swamiji and declined to give any statement to the TV channels.

“We do not want publicity. We don’t have publicity obsession. We could not listen the bad words. We could have tolerated if we have done any mistake or injustice. How could we face the allegation without doing anything wrong? It hurts a lot to listen to bad things. After watching and listening to all such developments, I don’t have any interest to become food for TV debate”, the swamiji said.

Panaji (PTI): As part of a crackdown against tourist establishments violating laws and safety norms in the aftermath of the Arpora fire tragedy, Goa authorities on Saturday sealed a renowned club at Vagator and revoked the fire department NOC of another club.

Cafe CO2 Goa, located on a cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea at Vagator beach in North Goa, was sealed. The move came two days after Goya Club, also in Vagator, was shut down for alleged violations of rules.

Elsewhere, campaigning for local body polls, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal said the fire incident at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub at Arpora, which claimed 25 lives on December 6, happened because the BJP government in the state was corrupt.

An inspection of Cafe CO2 Goa by a state government-appointed team revealed that the establishment, with a seating capacity of 250, did not possess a no-objection certificate (NOC) of the Fire and Emergency Services Department. The club, which sits atop Ozrant Cliff, also did not have structural stability, the team found.

The Fire and Emergency Services on Saturday also revoked the NOC issued to Diaz Pool Club and Bar at Anjuna as the fire extinguishers installed in the establishment were found to be inadequate, said divisional fire officer Shripad Gawas.

A notice was issued to Nitin Wadhwa, the partner of the club, he said in the order.

Campaigning at Chimbel village near Panaji in support of his party's Zilla Panchayat election candidate, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal said the nightclub fire at Arpora happened because of the "corruption of the Pramod Sawant-led state government."

"Why this fire incident happened? I read in the newspapers that the nightclub had no occupancy certificate, no building licence, no excise licence, no construction licence or trade licence. The entire club was illegal but still it was going on," he said.

"How could it go on? Couldn't Pramod Sawant or anyone else see it? I was told that hafta (bribe) was being paid," the former Delhi chief minister said.

A person can not work without bribing officials in the coastal state, Kejriwal said, alleging that officers, MLAs and even ministers are accepting bribes.
