Kasaragod, Dec 13: A research student from Badiyadka village has got a chance to conduct scientific research in space sector at NASA.

Ibrahim Kaleel of Badiyadka village got this opportunity. He is sponsored by Marie Curie organization for the research work and he would involve in the research activities to improve the indispensable technical capacity for launching space rockets under Full Camp project. The new technology is still under research stage and the role of Ibrahim will be pivotal in the research.

Being a PhD student, Ibrahim will work under the guidance of Prof Erasmo Carrera and Ivan Pineda. Ibrahim has graduated from Manipal Engineering College in Aeronautical Engineering and got post graduation from RUB Computational University of Bochum, Germany.  

Involving himself in developing new technology, Ibrahim has visited University of Washington and Seattle and Purdue University of Indiana for four months. He is leaving for Indiana on August 2019 for research work.

Being a son of Majeed Paika and Zubaida Goliyadi, Ibrahim has got name through his research activities. He was also selected for the world’s prestigious scholarship and he will get Rs 1.30 crore scholarship. Among 1,600 research applications, only 12 were selected including Ibrahim.

Importance of NASA research

The new satellite launching vehicle would be two-three times more efficient than the existing rocket. Through Aerospace Engineering, the spare parts of that rocket were being prepared. The new technology would reduce the time consuming for the creation of the new rocket, Ibrahim said.

Currently, Ibrahim is in Glenn Research Centre of NASA at Ohio State in America and for two weeks, he will have discussion with the prestigious scientists and research scholars and present his research papers.

Panambur: A man who allegedly came armed to attack another person was caught by members of the public and later handed over to police in Jokatte late on Friday night.

The accused has been identified as Naveen Poojari, originally from Vamanjoor and presently residing in Jokatte.

According to police sources, Naveen was married and has an eight-year-old son. The couple are now divorced.

Police said Naveen suspected that his former wife, who is employed at a showroom in Padil, was moving closely with Devi Prasad Acharya, a mechanic working there.

Based on this suspicion, Naveen allegedly went to the house of Devi Prasad Acharya on Friday night carrying a deadly weapon, created a scene and issued threats.

During the incident, Devi Prasad Acharya reportedly contacted the 112 emergency helpline, following which Naveen fled from the spot.

While escaping, Naveen is said to have fallen from his two-wheeler near the Jokatte Panchayat area. Local residents who rushed to help noticed a deadly weapon on the vehicle and immediately alerted police.

Officials from Panambur Police Station rushed to the spot, took Naveen into custody and brought him to the station.

A case has been registered based on the complaint filed by Devi Prasad Acharya, and further action is under way.
