Belthangady: A notice has been issued by Belthangady Police to Sowjanya movement activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody regarding the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for the Dharmasthala mass burial case finding weapons during an inspection of his house in Ujire recently.
Belthangady Police filed the case on September 16, based on a complaint filed by SIT officers stating two swords and one rifle were found during a search of Thimarody’s house. Thimarody was issued the notice to appear for interrogation.
It is learned that the Belthangady Police officers had visited the activist’s house on Thursday for an inquest, but Thimarody was not at home. The officers went again on Friday morning. As the house was locked, however, the police reportedly pasted the notice on a wall of the house, ordering the activist to appear for questioning on September 21.
