Belthangady: Kadirudyavara-Mittubagilu village accountant and his assistant were on Saturday morning arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) allegedly while the duo was accepting bribe.
According to the reports the the accused identified as VA Manjunath, village accountant and his assistant Ramesh Naik were caught red-handed by the ACB team when they were demanding and asking bribe for changing name in the RTC documents here on Saturday.
A social activist Pradeep Gowda had filed complaint with the ACB against the two accused followed by which the ACB raided the office of village accountant on Saturday.
According to the complaint, Manjunath and Ramesh Naik were demanding bribe of five thousand rupees for changing name in the RTC document. Pradeep handed over 2000 rs bribe to Ramesh Naik on Friday and told him that he will pay the remaining three thousand on Saturday. While bribing him of three thousand rupees an ACB team raided and arrested the accused.

Shivamogga: A 38-year-old rowdy sheeter, Rajesh Shetty, was hacked to death in broad daylight by a group of assailants near Bomanakatte on Saturday here.
The attack occurred around 1 PM near a garage close to Marammanagudi on the old Bommanakatte main road.
Sources suggest that the murder was motivated by an old grudge. Rajesh Shetty, a rowdy sheeter listed at the Vinoba Nagar police station with seven cases against him, reportedly died on the spot due to the severity of the assault.
Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Bhooma Reddy and officers from the Vinoba Nagar police station visited the crime scene and initiated an investigation.
District Defense Officer GK Mithun Kumar informed the media that three special teams have been formed to track down the culprits. He stated, "We have obtained information about the accused, and preliminary findings indicate that the killing was driven by personal reasons."
