Mangaluru: Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT) and Bearys Enviro Architecture Design School (BEADS) along with Mangalore University on Saturday organised 'Green Walkathon' as a part of "Green Building Week" here at its Bearys Knowledge Campus.

Vice-chancellor of Mangalore University Dr P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya flagged off the walkathon from Mangala Auditorium at Mangalore University on Saturday morning.

"To preserve life on earth, the preservation of greenery and environment is very important. We all need to come together to save the environment and the earth, to preserve life here," he said.

Presiding over the event, Syed Mohammed Beary spoke about the importance of creating awareness for our environment and added that the green environment is a healthy environment.

He also spoke about the climate change crisis and how it is affecting millions of lives across the world as we are not able to take care of our nature.

"We are nothing without nature. We are not above nature. It is our responsibility to save the environment and build greenery around us" he added.
