Mangaluru, May.10: BJP and JDS have struck a secret poll pact in the state and have done injustice to the people. But their strategy will not yield any result. Congress will win 130 seats in the upcoming election and Siddaramaiah will once again become the Chief Minister of the state said Chief whip Ivan D’Souza.
Speaking in a press meet at party office here today, he said “I have travelled across the district in the wake of upcoming election. There is pro congress wave everywhere. Especially, Anna Bhagya scheme has proved boon to the congress party”.
There is direct fight between congress and BJP in the state. In very few constituencies JDS is also in the race. In his election speeches at various places in the state Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks of different problems. But what he has done as a Prime Minister? Ivan questioned.
Congress will bag 15 out of 19 seats in coastal districts like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada. There 14 per cent Muslims and 3 per cent Christians in coastal districts. But neither BJP nor JDS has given a single ticket to a Christian candidate. Hence, Christians will support congress party, the chief whip opined.
D.K district congress president Harish Kumar, KPCC general secretary U.B Venkatesh and others were present in the press meet.

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.
“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.
The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.
Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
