Mangaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited Mangaluru and inaugurated several projects worth Rs. 3,800 crores during the visit. Several BJP leaders including Amit Malviya and Priti Gandhi shared a purported video from Modi’s Mangaluru visit praising him being the crowd puller as thousands of people were seen attending Modi’s event in the video while the PM waved at them.

Amit Malviya, the IT Cell Chief of the saffron party shared the video with the caption “Energy. Enthusiasm.” with hashtag #Mangaluru indicating that the video was shot in Mangaluru during Modi’s Friday visit to the city.

The party’s Andhra Pradesh State General Secretary Vishnu Vardhan Reddy also shared the video from his Twitter account and claimed that the video was shot during PM Modi’s Mangaluru visit.

Priti Gandhi, however, had shared the same video on August 28, five days before Modi’s Mangaluru visit adding that the video was from Kutch and the PM had received “Unimaginable Fervor” by the people of the Kutch, Gujarat during his visit there.

AltNews.in, however, in their fact-check report added that the video was shot in Kolkata in 2019 during an election rally. The video was uploaded in April 2019 and was ironically shared by both Amit Malviya and Priti Gandhi in April 2019.

The video was shared by BJP’s official Twitter handle on April 3, 2019, with the caption “Electrifying atmosphere at PM Shri @narendramodi’s public meeting in Kolkata”. The same was also shared by PM Modi's personal Twitter handle.
