Mangaluru: Chief Minister Kumaraswamy has already stated to fulfill the promises. Hence, the BJP’s move to call a state-bandh in the view of loan waiver, even before the cabinet formation, is a political gimmick; said former minister and MLA UT Khader.

Addressing a press conference at D.K district Congress office, he said, "There was no cabinet meeting held yet. Ministers have not been appointed. At this point, the BJP’s call for a state-bandh that they announced even before the trust vote is not a good move. The BJP does not speak about sky-rocketing petrol and diesel prices. Instead, they are playing politics.

When asked whether CM post will be shared for 30 months, Mr. Khader replied that the coalition government would complete its five-year term. However, the matter of choosing Chief Minister for this term is left to party high command.

When asked whether he will get ministership, Mr. Khader said, it is up to high command to decide. For the minister post, there is no competition in the district. “Though we belong to different parties, we both are good friends,” he said pointing BM Farooq.

“The suspicions over EVM that have been raised across the country will be taken seriously. It was not possible to prove the suspicions. However, It is important to think about this at booth level. At this stage nothing can be said about the party's conduct regarding EVM,” he informed.

“Booth and constituency level review will be held regarding the defeat of the Congress in the coastal region. We accept the people’s mandate,” he said.

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.

“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.

The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.

Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.

There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
