Hiriyadka, June 5: Four accused including main accused in the suspicious death of cattle trader Hussainabba of Jokatte, who were in the police custody, handed over to the judicial custody till June 15,on Tuesday.

Earlier, the court has handed over the accused to the police custody for interrogation till June 6. As the interrogation was completed one day earlier, the police produced them before the district court which handed over them to the judicial custody till June 15.

Police have arrested main accused in the incident, VHP leader Suresh Mendon and Bajrang Dal worker Prasad Marakala who were absconding after the incident, in Ballary and Umesh Shetty and Rathan Poojary were arrested in Hiriyadka on June 1. On the same day, the police have produced them before the court and got them into their custody till June 6 for further investigation. Later, police collected information and evidences.

As the police have completed their investigation, all the accused were produced before the court one day prior to the date. The judge handed them over to the judicial custody and the accused were taken to Karwar jail.

Other accused Hiriyadka PSI DN Kumar, police constables Mohan Kotval and Gopal, Bajrang Dal workers Chethan Acharya, Shailesh Shetty and Ganesh Naik were already sent to Karwar jail. Total 10 accused were under the judicial custody in this case.

Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.

Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.

 

Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
