Hiriyadka: Four persons have been arrested in connection with the suspected death of the cattle trader Hussainabba (62), who was died in an attack by Bajarangadal activists, at Sinabettu in Perdoor; stated Udupi district SP Laxman Nimbargi.
Udupi VHP leader Suresh Mendon alias Suri, Bajrang Dal activists Prasad Kondadi, Umesh Shetty and Ratan are the arrested. While Suresh and Prasad arrested in Bellary, Umesh Shetty and Ratan have been detained in Udupi district.
Suresh Mendon, Prasad and Deepak Shetty, who had fled to Bellary after the incident, were taken into custody at Bellary and brought to Udupi for inquiry. Among them, Suresh and Prasad were arrested after being identified as accused. Meanwhile, Umesh and Ratan were detained in Udupi district, the SP informed to the media.
All the four have been arrested in connection with the assault on cattle transporters and for vandalising their vehicle. The autopsy report is yet to ascertain whether the death of Hussainabba was a murder. This report is likely to come to us by this evening or tomorrow. The investigation is on,” SP Nimbargi said.

Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.
Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.
Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
