Udupi: The three girl students of the Nethra Jyothi Paramedical College, Udupi, accused of filming a video of a college mate in the restroom, have surrendered before court and have been granted conditional bail.

Malpe Police officials had registered cases against the accused under IPC Section 509, 204, 175 and 34 as well as IT Act Section 66(E), in relation to the incident, following which, the three girls surrendered before the First Additional Civil Judge and JMFC Court, Udupi, on Friday.

Justice Shyam Prakash, who heard the case, granted conditional bail to the three accused girls, instructing them to cooperate with the investigating officer, appearing in court on the day of trial, not threatening the witnesses and submit bonds of Rs 20,000 each, among others.

Advocate from Udupi Asadullah Katpady argued on behalf of the accused girls in court.

Hathras (UP) (PTI): The blood-soaked body of an elderly man was found inside his house in Paharpur village here on Tuesday morning, police said.

The deceased, Jagdish Prasad Sharma, 75, who lived alone, had gone to sleep in his house on Monday night, officials said.

On Tuesday morning, his blood-soaked body was lying on a cot, with marks on his head and body indicating blows from a sharp-edged weapon, they said, adding that the police suspect murder.

Police and forensic teams reached the spot upon receiving information and sent the body for a post-mortem, they said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ramanand Kushwaha said that Sharma, a retired Health Department employee, had been living alone since his wife's death during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He owned around 20-25 bighas of land and was also engaged in money lending, the officer said.
