Udupi, September 9: Seeking support for the Bharat Bandh from the businessmen, industrialists, merchants and general public, the district Congress workers and leaders took out a Padayatre in the city on Sunday.

Led by district Congress President Janardhan Thonse, the office-bearers and workers took out the Padayatre to Jodukatte, Court Road, KM Road, Service and City Bus Stations, Shops, Offices, Commercial Complexes and other places and appealed the people to support the bandh.

Janardhan Thonse said that the central government has failed to check the fuel price hike. Due to fuel price hike, the general public have been facing the problem. The common people did not have Achhe Din. People need to support the Bharat Bandh. The Congress party has been appealing and requesting the people and it was not a force, he said.

District Congress secretary Harish Kini, KPCC member Veronika Karnalio, Dinesh Puthran, District Youth Congress President Vishwas Ameen, District women Congress President Geetha Vagle,Leaders Ramesh Kanchan, Narasimhamurthy, Janardhan Bhandarkar and others were present.

Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Nov 26: A newborn baby boy was allegedly kidnapped from Kalaburagi district hospital by two women disguised as hospital staff, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at around 3 pm on Monday, they said.

CCTV footage from the hospital premises shows the two women wandering around the campus. Additional footage captures them fleeing the hospital with the infant.

Police said that the suspects, dressed in white doctor’s aprons and with their faces partially covered, posed as hospital staff.

"They approached the mother, claiming the baby needed tests, and then fled with the infant," police added.

"We have registered a case under Section 137 (Kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Three teams have been formed to trace the accused and recover the baby. We have some leads, and our teams are actively working on the case," a senior police officer stated.
