Kota, June 4: A police constable attached to Udupi District Armed Reserve Force died in the bus while travelling due to cardiac arrest near Sabarakatte Junction in the town on Monday.

The deceased is identified as Vasantha Poojary (39), of Bedde near Madamakki. After his duty, Vasantha Poojary was going to Hairubailu of Shankarnarayan via Brahmavar in a private bus. When he experienced chest pain on the bus near the Sabarakatte Junction, co-passengers admitted him to a local doctor. But the doctor declared him brought dead.

Vasanth Poojary who had joined the DAR force in 2003, had also worked in the Forest department in its forest police force wing. The deceased is survived by his wife and two daughters. The mortal remains of the police constable was kept in the Ajjarakadu mortuary. SP Lakshman Nimbargi, Additional SP Kumarachandra, DySP Jaishankar, DAR inspector Raghavendra visited the mortuary and condoled the death of Poojary.

Byndoor: An attempt to transport cattle in an insulated vehicle designed for carrying fish came to light after the vehicle, being driven at high speed, toppled near Karikatte in Shiroor on Thursday night.

The vehicle, traveling from Bhatkal taluk in Uttara Kannada district to Byndoor, was loaded with trays of fish, with cattle placed in between. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Durgambika Halla at Karikatte, causing it to overturn on the road.

As the vehicle toppled, the cattle being transported along with the fish became visible. The driver is said to have fled the scene immediately after the accident.

A case has been registered at Byndoor Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
