Bantwal: Bantwal taluk has been completely sealed down after a woman from the Bantwal died of COVID-19 at Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru on Sunday.
The deceased, a resident of Kamat Lane near Venkataramana Temple in Bantwal Taluk, died on Sunday morning and the reports of her samples returned as COVID-19 positive in the evening.
Five-kilometer surrounding area near her house on Kamat Lane has been classified as containment zone, inner buffer zone, and buffer zone.
The 500 meter radius around the deceased woman's house has been flagged as containment zone and has been sealed down.
The 1 kilometer range around the deceased woman's house has been identified as the Inner Buffer Zone, and the Health Department staff will visit every house in this zone to check the health of every resident.
Besides this, Asha workers will be visiting all the homes in this range and will be keeping a close watch and create awareness about the coronavirus.
The third is the buffer zone, which is the radius of 5 km from the house of the deceased woman. Coronavirus is more likely to spread in these areas, so all orders to avoid spreading the virus, including social distancing, are strictly enforced in the vicinity.
The administration has also warned people of initiating legal action in case any resident is found to be violating the instructions.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will operate 1000 additional special services in view of the Christmas festival.
In addition to the existing schedule, the special services will run on 19.12.2025, 20.12.2025 and 24.12.2025. Further, special buses will be operated from various places of intra & Interstate places to Bengaluru on 26.12.2025 & 28.12.2025.
Special buses will be exclusively operated from Bengaluru Kempegowda Bus Station to Dharmastala, Kukkesubramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Shringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubbali, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppala, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupathi, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and other places.

Special buses from Mysuru Road Bus Station will be exclusively operated towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar, Madikeri.
The corporation has also announced a discount of 5 per cent on the fare if four or more passengers book tickets under a single reservation. A discount of 10 per cent will be extended on return journey tickets if onward and return tickets are booked simultaneously.
In addition to the above, special buses will be operated from all Taluk/District Bus Stands in the jurisdiction of KSRTC based on the traffic needs.
