Devarakoli (Sampaje), Karnataka: In an incident reported on late Wednesday night a container lorry collided with a car on the Mani-Mysore highway near Devarakoli in Dakshina Kannada district, resulting in the death of one person and leaving three others with serious injuries.

The incident occurred when a container lorry, en route to Mangalore via Sullia, failed to brake and collided with a car before overturning on the side of the road. The lorry driver, identified as Ishwara (42) from Kulai in Mangalore, and the occupants of the car were caught in the devastating crash.

Ravi, the car's driver and a resident of Bengaluru, tragically lost his life in the collision. The other occupants of the car, identified as Chandrasekhara and Nitin, sustained severe injuries, while Jagdish and Harsha also suffered injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Sulya.

The impact of the collision left both the car and the lorry completely crushed. Personnel from the Sullia police department arrived at the scene of the accident to conduct a thorough investigation.

Mullanpur (PTI): Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets in their Indian Premier League match here on Tuesday.

Invited to bat, opener Prabhsimran Singh scored 59 up front while Marcus Stoinis provided the final flourish with an unbeaten 62 off 22 balls as Punjab Kings posted 222 for 4.

The Royals then put up a collective batting effort to overhaul the target with four balls to spare.

Earlier, leg spinner Yash Punja picked up two wickets for the visitors.
