Mangaluru: “Covid positive cases have not increased in the Dakshina Kannada District. Instead, a fluctuation has been observed in this regard in the recent one-week period. More importantly than that, the RTPCR Test that used to conduct in the range from 3 to 4 thousand tests in the past have seen a steady increase recently”, D.K. District Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V. informed.
He spoke at the inaugural event held at City’s Mangalore University, commencing operation of the mobile vaccination centres under the joint cooperation of Indian Red Cross D.K District, Rotary Mangaluru, and Bank of Baroda. The mobile vaccination centres will be operated by health workers who will visit the homes of the disabled in the district.
“People need not be alarmed that the positive cases are on the rise. Friday alone, 11 thousand RT PCR tests were conducted in the district. Therefore we are observing the rise in the percentage of positive cases. While the percentage last week was 18%, this week it has decreased to 9%”, he said.
“On behalf of the D.K district administration, Red Cross has undertaken a program to vaccinate KSRTC, private bus drivers on a priority basis. The D.K District Red Cross is conducting every event in a very efficient manner. It has also conducted vaccination drives for the NRIs in an excellent manner. After that, they have also created more effective programs to provide vaccination to all, and measures are being taken in this regard”, DC Dr. Rajendra K.V informed.
“The Mobile Vaccination Centres will conduct phase-by-phase operations based on pre-registrations and cover regions where more than 10 patients exist who are bed-ridden due to long-term illnesses, immobile due to old age, and endo prone”, he said.
Bank of Baroda DGM Gayatri said, “In cooperation with District Administration Red Cross and Rotary Clubs, Bank of Baroda is proud to be participating in the home visit vaccination program undertaken to vaccinate the disabled.”
“A program to vaccinate the NRIs has already been conducted by the District Administration. Today, auto-rickshaw and bus drivers are being vaccinated. More importantly, the program to vaccinate the disabled through mobile vaccination centres has now been commenced. Efforts will be made to carry out this operation in a phase-by-phase manner throughout the district”, Red Cross District President Shantharam Shetty informed.
Decision about lockdown lift to be taken today (Saturday)
In order to lift lockdown in the district, people’s cooperation very important. It is crucial that they maintain social distancing, wear masks, avoid gathering in large groups and take these preventive measures, and uphold the corona guidelines. Today (June 19), 12 in the afternoon, people’s representatives and CM will discuss lifting the lockdown via a video conference and take a decision.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will operate 1000 additional special services in view of the Christmas festival.
In addition to the existing schedule, the special services will run on 19.12.2025, 20.12.2025 and 24.12.2025. Further, special buses will be operated from various places of intra & Interstate places to Bengaluru on 26.12.2025 & 28.12.2025.
Special buses will be exclusively operated from Bengaluru Kempegowda Bus Station to Dharmastala, Kukkesubramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Shringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubbali, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppala, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupathi, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and other places.

Special buses from Mysuru Road Bus Station will be exclusively operated towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar, Madikeri.
The corporation has also announced a discount of 5 per cent on the fare if four or more passengers book tickets under a single reservation. A discount of 10 per cent will be extended on return journey tickets if onward and return tickets are booked simultaneously.
In addition to the above, special buses will be operated from all Taluk/District Bus Stands in the jurisdiction of KSRTC based on the traffic needs.
