Belthangady: In connection with the Dharmasthala case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has begun a large-scale search operation across the 12-acre Banglegudde forest area near the Netravati bathing ghat.

The move follows statements suggesting that multiple human remains could be buried in the area. Earlier, complainant Chinnayya had produced a skull allegedly recovered from the same forest, which became a key lead in the investigation. During the subsequent spot inspection, Sowjanya’s uncle, Vithal Gowda, claimed that several skeletal remains were visible in the vicinity.

Based on these disclosures, SIT officials deliberated over the past few days on conducting a thorough examination of the forest land. Since the site falls under the Belthangady forest division, necessary permissions were secured from the forest department before initiating today’s operation.

SIT officers Jitendra Kumar Dayama and Simon, along with forest officials, public works department staff, Dharmasthala gram panchayat representatives, and an FSL SoKo team, are jointly participating in the search operation.
