Mangaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the alleged mass burials case in Dharmasthala, paused its on-ground inspection work on Monday evening. The team is expected to resume the process on Tuesday.

As part of the investigation, the SIT had brought the main complainant and key witness to the site earlier in the day for spot verification. During the day-long operation, the witness is said to have helped the team in identifying 13 specific locations for examination.

Sources in the SIT clarified that Monday’s inspection was halted as scheduled for the day and will continue on Tuesday. The spot verification is taking place in a forested area near the Netravathi bathing ghat in Dharmasthala.

The case, which has drawn considerable public and media attention, relates to allegations of multiple secret burials and has been under investigation by the SIT since recent developments surfaced.
