Belthangady: On the fifth day of its ongoing investigation into the alleged burial of multiple bodies, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrived at the Nethravathi forest region around 11:30 AM on August 1, accompanied by the main complainant in the case.
Excavation work is currently underway at a site marked as "spot number 7," with the assistance of sanitation workers and a mini-JCB machine.
The high-level team present on site includes IPS officer Jitendra Kumar Dayama, Superintendent of Police Simon, Puttur Assistant Commissioner Stella Varghese, Belthangady Tahsildar Prithvi Sanikam, DCF Roshini from the Social Forestry Department, as well as personnel from the Internal Security Division (ISD), Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Revenue Department, and Forest Department.
The SIT continues its search as part of an extensive probe into the serious allegations surrounding the mass burial claims in the Dharmasthala region.

Jamshedpur (PTI): One person was arrested on the charge of raping a 30-year-old woman with speech impairment in Jamshedpur, a police officer said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Azadnagar police station area of the city, and a case in this regard was registered based on the statement of the victim's brother on Monday.
The victim had gone to fetch water from the premises of a company on Monday evening. When she did not return even after a considerable time, family members went out in search of her and caught the accused red-handed, police said.

The accused was a caretaker of the company.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Patamda) Bachandeo Kujjur said due to scarcity of water in the area, the victim used to fetch water from the premises of the company.
