Belthangady: Jayant T, the second complainant who informed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that he had witnessed the illegal burial of a young woman’s body in Dharmathala village, has lodged a complaint with the Dharmasthala police alleging death threats from a group of 17 people.

According to the complaint, from the day he approached the SIT, certain individuals have been issuing provocative statements against him through the media, allegedly to incite violence. The accused named in the complaint include Vasant Giliyar, Kirik Keerthi, Vikas Shastri, and Power TV head Rakesh Shetty.

Jayant T further alleged that a group has been following him with the intent to kill. District Police Superintendent said the complaint is under verification and appropriate action will be taken.

Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.

Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.

 

Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
