Dharmasthala: Two arrested in case of alleged rape of minor girl in forest
Belthangady: Dharmasthala Police have arrested two men from the taluk on charge of taking a minor girl to a forest and raping her.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sumanth (28) of Kadirudyavara village and Navaneeth (26) of Gardadi village in Belthangady taluk.
The 15-year-old victim, reportedly from the Dharmasthala Police Station limits, is learned to have informed her family that, on April 16, the accused took her to a forest near Ermayi Falls and raped her.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Dharmasthala Police on April 17. Based on their complaint, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested the accused on Saturday evening.
Further investigation is underway.
It is also learnt that one of the arrested, Sumanth, was scheduled to get married on May 10.

Over 10 feared dead in blast at firecrackers manufacturing unit in TN
Virudhunagar (PTI): More than 10 workers were feared dead following a blast in a firecrackers manufacturing unit near here and some others were severely injured, police said.
The blast occurred when about 30 workers were engaged in routine manufacturing related processes at the firecrackers unit at Kattanarpatti near here, they said adding portions of the building too collapsed under the impact.
