Udupi: Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis on Friday asked all private hospitals to display the treatment price list with clear visibility compulsorily.

Speaking at a review meeting on various committees of the Health department at her office here, she said that though there was an order to display the price list in bold letters for the public view in all private hospitals, majority of the hospitals display the list in corners. Many hospitals have the old lists. So, all private hospitals should display the recent price list without fail, she directed.

The DC directed DHO Dr Rohini to visit all hospitals and get the photos of the price list display from the hospitals when they apply for the licence renewal and renew the permission.

The DC also said that the department should compulsorily give training to puerperal women on taking precautionary measures after the delivery in hospital wards in order to reduce the child mortality rate.

The district administration has already reserved land at Senapura for rehabilitation of Endosulfan  affected people and the Health department should protect the land with proper fencing. The department should distribute required medical equipment for the Endosulfan affected people, the DC said.

Officers of various departments were present at the meeting.

Beed, Apr 13 (PTI): A 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her stepfather in Maharashtra's Beed district, police said on Monday.

Based on a complaint, the police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in connection with the incident, which occurred on April 9, an official said.

According to police, the teen's mother divorced her first husband nine years ago and married the accused, with whom she has a son.

On the afternoon of April 9, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted his stepdaughter while his wife was away and threatened her into silence, the official said.

He said that the assault came to light when the mother returned home and noticed a change in her daughter's behaviour and questioned her. The girl narrated the ordeal, following which a complaint was lodged at the Kaij police station.
