Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. KV Rajendra on Wednesday filed a complaint against Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Jagadish Karanth, accusing him of threatening to attack the DC and issuing provocative statements against government officials.

According to the complaint filed by the DC at the Punjalkatte Station, a case has been registered against Jagdish Karanth under sections 153, 117, 504, 506, 189 of the IPC.

During a public awareness gathering at Karinja Rathabeedi in Kaavalamudur village organized by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike Bantwal Taluk Committee on November 21, Jagdish Karanth, the regional secretary of the organization addressed the gathering saying, “We have given a deadline till December 21st to stop mining activities around Karinjeshwara Temple. If not, we will be ready on December 21st to gather in large numbers and go to D.K District Commissioner’s office and grab him by his collar. If you have the strength, stop the stone mining if not, take a transfer and go.

In this manner, by speaking rudely using the disrespectful pronoun, and thus disrespected the post of District Commissioner. Additionally, he has propagated threats to the government officials and encouraged them to commit such a crime, the District Commissioner has elaborated in the complaint.  

As Jagdish Karanth has provocatively threatened to commit a criminal act, he has inspired thousands of people to commit similar criminal acts. By issuing a criminal threat asking thousands of people to flock to the District Commissioner’s office on December 21st and grab the commissioner by the collar, he has created a criminal panic for a government employee. By provoking to harm and assault government officials, he has issued a threat, the DC’s complaint added.

Mumbai: An assistant commissioner of police was arrested by Worli Police in Central Mumbai under charge of flashing his private parts before a nine-year-old girl.

The arrested officer is reportedly under judicial custody, at present, according to a report by The Times of India.

The incident occurred in a garden on April 23, a police officer has said, adding that they arrested the ACP soon after the complaint was filed. So far, only one party has filed a complaint against the senior officer, the source has informed.

The senior officer has been charged with molestation and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police officer said.

Further investigation of the case is underway.
