Mangaluru, Aug.18: Dakshina Kannada district Khazi Al Haj Thwaqa Ahmed Musliyar gave a call requesting people to help flood victims of Kerala and Kodagu.
Kerala has submerged in deadly rain of the century. Almost all the districts in the state is affected by rain and lakhs of people have lost their livelihood. Hundreds of people have lost their lives. It is women and children who get affected the most. The already poor people are now literally helpless. Not only they are facing threat to their lives but also suffering due to unavailability of food and drinking water. In Karnataka, Kodagu district is reeling under heavy rain and flood. Flood in Jodupala near Sullia in Dakshina Kannada has claimed several lives. It is every person's responsibility to respond during this unfortunate fury of nature, Khazi said.
Muslim community of Dakshina Kannada should help the flood victims the most. They should refrain from overspending during Bakrid,which itself is the festival of sacrifice and donate the money to flood victims through government departments or related organisations, he requested.

Gumla (PTI): Three persons were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping two women at a village in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, police said.
All the three accused have been remanded to judicial custody, Gumla Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge, Mahendra Karmali, told PTI.
According to police, one of the women had been called to Gumla Sadar by her boyfriend on Sunday for an outing.
“She arrived at the spot accompanied by a female. The woman’s boyfriend then called a friend, and they took the two women to a secluded place in Sisai police station area in the evening, forcibly made them consume alcohol before raping them,” the officer said.
The accused later called another man to the spot, who also allegedly raped the women, he said.
“The women later reached the Sadar Police Station and lodged a complaint on Sunday night. Police conducted raids and nabbed the three accused on Monday,” he added.
Further investigation is underway.
