Kundapura(Kodi): Karnataka’s Minister of Law, Parliamentary affairs and Legislation, and Tourism, H.K Patil, graced the founders day and anniversary celebrations at Bearys Group of Institutions and inaugurated the newly constructed 'Kodi Bearys Knowledge Campus.'
During his address as the Chief Guest, Patil stressed on the importance of education and how it can shape the students as the assets for the nation. The Minister also unveiled the new logo of the organization.
“Students should become real assets to the country through education, and parents should nurture their children to become assets. The future of students is in their hands. The more they read, the brighter their future will be. Study habits make them smart. Students should not seek a shortcut in studies, which will break their success,” he said.
Patil further emphasizing on sowing brotherhood in the society, said, “Instead of spreading hate, love should be fostered in the minds of children. Through this approach, the task of nation-building should be done. Patriotism should be strengthened in the minds of children. This is the real task of nation building. It is commendable to see that this organization is working in that direction.”
Meanwhile, speaking after inaugurating the new grand entrance of the ‘Bearys Knowledge Campus’ here at Kodi, Karnataka Assembly Speaker U.T Khader asserted that, “True patriotism involves imparting good education to the children and making them the wealth of the country. This country cannot become strong if MLAs, MPs and officers become powerful. This country can be strong only when students and the youth community is powerful, and this institution is providing holistic education.”
He further highlighted Bearys Institution instilling good values among students by stating that, “Our nation requires educational institutions that impart secular values such as brotherhood, equality, love, and trust in society. In the present scenario, educated individuals are becoming increasingly contentious. Hence, educational institutions should not only offer secular education but also instill good cultural values. It is heartening to see that Bearys organization is actively engaged in this important work.”
Syed Mohammed Beary, Managing trustee of the institution initially speaking at the event revealed, “We have plans to develop this institution into an University, which will create peace in the society. Under the leadership of our institutions, cleaning work was initiated at Kodi Beach for the last 28 months. Resulting in the number of turtles coming to the beach and laying eggs is increasing.”
“Kodi should be established as Mahatma Gandhi’s Ram Rajya, by making the town a cigarette, ganja and alcohol free region. This Ram Rajya should have love, trust, perseverance and giving. Everyone should revolutionize this in unity with truth, justice and equality. Live with togetherness and show it to the whole world."
Kundapura MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi who graced the event as the guest of honour performed the flag hoisting ceremony. Environmentalist Padma Shri Tulsi Gowda and Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee MEIF (Muslim Educational Institutions Federation) President Moosabba P Beary were honored on this occasion. Haji K.M. Abdul Rehman, Chairman of Bearys Group of Educational Institutions, presided over the event. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions on the occasion.

Bearys English Medium School Principal Ashwini Shetty welcomed the guests and the attendees. Bearys DEd College Principal Dr. Firdos read the annual report. PU College Lecturer Ziyana read out the list of awardees. Beary's First Grade College Principal Dr. Shameer read the vote of thanks. College professors Hayavadana Upadhyaya and Sandeep Shetty narrated the program.
In the meantime, Managing trustee of the institutions Syed Mohammed Beary suggested that the government should develop the Kodi beach, and stated, “ Kodi is one among the five blue beaches. The government should develop the beach, seawalk and mangrove forest here. Also a master plan should be formulated to develop the coastal belt stretching from Kasaragod to Karwar. He said that clusters should be made including education, commerce, housing, entertainment and health.”
Responding to Syed Mohammed Beary’s suggestion, Tourism Minister HK Patil, said, “A meeting of experts will be called soon to discuss this matter.”
Commending the institution, H.K. Patil stated, “This educational institution, started in 1906, was in a state of closure due to lack of admissions. In such a scenario, the Beary brothers prioritized the school over their business, and with their skillful efforts, not only managed to survive, but also nurtured the institution.”
He further wished that this institution would grow further and rise to the level of a university. He further added, “I was surprised to learn about the 118-year history and mission of this institution. It is truly a rare establishment, and its remarkable growth is attributed to their strong faith in God. The organization's commendable effort to identify underprivileged children in poor and rural areas, providing them with quality education to nurture their talents, is truly admirable."

Chandigarh (PTI): The Enforcement Directorate on Monday conducted searches at multiple locations in Punjab as part of a money laundering probe against former state police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and entities linked to him, officials said.
They said about 11 premises in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Patiala, Nabha and Jalandhar linked to the accused, his associates and suspected benamidars (the owner in whose name a benami property is held) are being covered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe stems from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case registered against Bhullar on allegations that he sought illegal gratification through a middleman for settlement of a criminal case, along with detection of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
The searches aim to trace further proceeds of the alleged crime, identify benami assets and gather evidence related to money laundering, ED officials said.
Bhullar, who was serving as the deputy inspector general (DIG) of police (Ropar Range), was arrested by the CBI in October 2025 after a scrap dealer alleged that bribe was demanded from him through an intermediary to settle a case.
