Mangaluru: EVMs at Kalappu Patla and Ombattukare in Mangaluru assembly constituency were found to be having faults while casting ‘demo votes’ before the polling began on Thursday here.

Former Councilor, Dinesh Rai alleged that while casting ‘demo votes’ 42 votes that were exercised for Congress accounted for BJP on EVMs at Obattukare.

Similarly in Kalappu Patla, during ‘demo votes’ votes exercised for Congress went in favour of BJP. When questioned about this, the polling officials reacted carelessly resulting in furore and uproar among voters and workers of other parties.

The official then called for back-up police force to disperse the crowd. EVMs were eventually changed before allowing voters to cast their votes, former councilor Usman Kalappu said.

In the meantime, a voice clip explaining the matter of errors in EVM went viral in Social Media which has now become a headache for the officials.
