Fake website using similar name of Vartha Bharati publishing communally triggering news

Mangaluru: A complaint was on Monday evening submitted to the Mangaluru Police Commissioner against a fake website operating in a name similar to that of Vartha Bharati, posting communally sensitive and triggering posts.
The fake website is being run under the name of Varthabarthi.com in a deliberate attempt to use the goodwill, credibility and popularity of the leading Kannada news website Varthabharati.in managed and run by Vartha Bharati Media Group.
The fake website is also publishing content and fake news that can potentially create a communal stir and trigger unrest in society.
Among the top news that features on the fake website is a news article quoting former Pakistani Cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq that former Indian Cricketer Harbhajan Singh has converted to Islam. The news is baseless and fake.
The miscreants who have created the website have also misled people into joining their WhatsApp groups. The WhatsApp group’s name is VarthaBarthi.com. The link to joining the WhatsApp group is also published on their website. +919449410497 is displayed as the number of the group’s admin.
It is an intimidating ploy and is clearly a part of a conspiracy to trigger unease in society by spreading fake and communally inciting news using the name of Vartha Bharati.
As an immediate measure, Vartha Bharati submitted a complaint to the Mangaluru Police Commissioner on Monday evening demanding legal action against the creators of the fake website and WhatsApp group. In the complaint, Vartha Bharati has also urged the police commissioner to initiate measures to take down the fake website and its WhatsApp groups immediately.
In addition, Vartha Bharati has also filed a complaint through email to the website domain regulator.

Rahul Gandhi to join Congress padyatra in Bihar, address party workers
Patna (PTI): Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will join the party's ongoing 'Palayan Roko, Naukri Do' padyatra in Bihar's Begusarai district on Monday.
Later in the day, he will return to Patna from Begusarai to address the 'Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan' (Save the Constitution Symposium). After that he will visit Sadaqat Ashram, the Bihar Congress office in Patna, to address party workers.
This will be Gandhi's third Bihar tour since January, when he had urged party workers to "inflict an ideological defeat" on the BJP in the assembly polls due later this year.
The Raebareli MP shared a minute-long video message on X on Sunday, urging the youth of Bihar to join him in the march in Begusarai wearing "white T-shirts".
"Our aim is to draw the attention of the world to the plight of Bihar's youth, who find government jobs getting scarce day by day and privatisation bringing no benefits. Let us bring the government in the state under pressure and change it," he said in the video.
Begusarai also happens to be the home district of Kanhaiya Kumar, who has been the star attraction of the padyatra, which began in East Champaran district last month.
The former JNU students' union president had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, on a CPI ticket, from the seat.
In the Bihar assembly polls, the Mahagathbandhan, comprising RJD, Congress and the Left, is pitted against the ruling Nitish Kumar-led NDA that also comprises the BJP.
