Feb 16: Dakshina Kannada reports 19 new Covid cases, Udupi records 11
Bengaluru, Feb 16: Karnataka on Tuesday logged 438 fresh COVID-19 and six fatalities, taking the total caseload to just above 9.46 lakh and the toll to 12,273, the health department said.
As many as 344 people were discharged after being cured of the virus, as cumulative recoveries rose to 9.27 lakh, leaving 5,860 active cases.
Bengaluru Urban continued to account for most number of infections, with 306, followed by 19 in Dakshina Kannada, 12 in Mysuru, 11 each in Chitradurga and Udupi and 10 in Belagavi.
Cumulatiely,9,46,076 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which include 12,273 deaths and 9,27,924 discharges.
Of the active cases, 125 are in Intensive Care Units.
Four out the six deaths reported today were from Bengaluru Urban, while Mysuru accounted for the other two.
Six of the 31 districts -- Bagalkote, Ballari, Koppal, Raichur, Ramanagar and Yadgir -- reported nil infections and fatalities.
A total of 1.80 crore samples have been tested so far, with 41,930 on Tuesday, the bulletin said.

Sculptor Ram Sutar, designer of Statue of Unity, passes away
New Delhi (PTI): Noted sculptor Ram Sutar, known for designing the world's tallest statue — Statue of Unity — in Gujarat, passed away late on Wednesday night at his Noida residence, his son said.
He was 100 and ailing with age-related illnesses.
"It is with profound grief that we inform you of the passing of my father Shri Ram Vanji Sutar on 17th December midnight at our residence," his son Anil Sutar said in a note shared with the press on Thursday.

Born in a humble family in Gondur village under the Dhule district of present-day Maharashtra on February 19, 1925, Sutar is known to have been drawn to sculpting from his childhood.
A gold medallist from JJ School of Art and Architecture, Mumbai, Sutar, has to his credit a long list of achievements.
The iconic statues of Mahatma Gandhi seated in a meditating pose and of Chhatrapati Shivaji riding a horse on the Parliament premises rank among his finest creations.
The Statue of Unity honours Sardar Patel, country's first deputy prime minister and home minister.
Sutar was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016.
Recently, Sutar was conferred with the Maharashtra Bhushan Puraskar, the state's highest award.
