Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old woman allegedly took her own life by hanging herself in Ullal, five days after celebrating the house-warming ceremony for her newly purchased residence in Kumpala Chitranjali Nagar, Farangipet.

The deceased has been identified as Ashwini Bangera, and preliminary investigations by the police suggest that she may have committed suicide due to stress. According to sources, Ashwini had a conversation with a friend over the phone on Wednesday night. However, when the friend visited her on Thursday morning, she was shocked to discover that Ashwini had locked herself in her room. The friend had to forcibly break open the door, only to find Ashwini hanging from the fan.

A 24-page suicide note was recovered by the police, wherein Ashwini, who had been working abroad, revealed that she had purchased the house in Kumpala Chitranjali Nagar about two months ago from a person named Sangeetha. Ashwini had recently organized a house-warming ceremony on June 3 and had been residing in the new house with her mother Devaki and two cousins. In the note, Ashwini alleged that she had been deceived during the purchase of the house and was currently being harassed by bank officials. This led the police to suspect that Ashwini may have been in a state of depression due to the various challenges she faced, ultimately leading her to take such a drastic step.

The Ullal Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident, and a thorough investigation is underway. The body of Ashwini Bangera has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
