Uppinangady, December 2: Following the gas leakage as a gas tanker turned turtle at Bedrodi near Uppinangady on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway on Sunday late night, nearby residents were asked not to light the fire as a precautionary measure.

The Bengaluru-bound gas tanker, belonging to Bharat Petroleum Company toppled in the cross of Bedrodi hanging bridge at around 1.50 am. As a result, the gas is leaking from the tanker and as a precautionary measure, the residents were warned against lighting the fire.

Vehicular movement was also suspended on the national highway and diverting them from Periyashanti and old gate. Fire brigade and police camped on the site.

Mysuru (Karnataka) (PTI): A balloon seller was killed and four others injured in a balloon gas cylinder explosion here on Thursday, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said. 

According to her, the accident happened near the entrance of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority in the city.

Police had earlier said two persons died in the incident. 

The balloon seller, appearing to be a 40 year-old man, was killed instantaneously while four others suffered injuries.

The condition of the injured is critical, she told reporters. 

According to police, a large number of people had arrived for the exhibition due to Christmas vacation.
